The Oromian Community Association of Northern Alberta (OCANA) is deeply committed to enhancing the quality of life for immigrants and refugees, with a focus on the Oromo community in the Greater Edmonton Area. We offer a range of vital services to empower newcomers and ensure successful integration into Canadian society.
Our key services include:
1. Information and Resource Sharing: OCANA serves as a valuable hub of information, providing newcomers with essential details about settlement services, government programs, language classes, educational opportunities, and employment resources. Equipped with knowledge, immigrants can make informed decisions and navigate their new environment effectively.
2. Settlement Assistance: We provide personalized support with paperwork and procedures for settling in Canada, assisting with applications for permanent residency, work permits, and essential documentation. Additionally, we offer guidance on housing, community integration, and healthcare access.
3. Socio-Economic Integration: OCANA offers workshops, training, and mentorship programs focused on skills development, job readiness, and financial literacy. By empowering newcomers with valuable skills, we aim to foster their economic independence.

5. Refugee Sponsorship and Resettlement: As a Sponsorship Agreement Holder, OCANA plays a pivotal role in resettling Oromo refugees from various regions worldwide. We provide comprehensive support, including orientation, housing assistance, and ongoing guidance to help newcomers rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
